Meet the Staff at New Hope Baptist Church
Dr. Jerry N. Watts, Senior Pastor
Bro. Jerry was born in the old Marion County Hospital as his mother and dad were born and raised in this county. He graduated from Purvis High School, William Carey College (University), International Seminary, and Andersonville Baptist Seminary. He has studied at Southeastern Baptist Seminary.
He has been in Church Ministry for over 45 years which includes a previous 8 month stay at New Hope in the mid-70's as the "Interim Music & Youth Director." After 15 plus years in ministry, God did a work in Bro. Jerry's heart and life by saving him, thus giving a new perspective on life and ministry. One year later, God extended the call to preach. Today, his heart is to see people outside of Christ, come to know Christ personally, to follow in obedience of baptism, and then become a 'disciple' of Christ, following him in all life offers.
Believing God has called him to NHBC, Bro. Jerry is excited about what God will do through His family in the years ahead.
Bro. Evan Sheridan, Associate Pastor
Rev. Evan Sheridan was born in Franklinton, LA. He is married to Hannah and they are excited about welcoming their firstborn into the world soon. He graduated from Franklinton High School. He attended Leavell College and graduated from there with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries with minors in pastoral ministry and biblical studies. Evan was called by God into ministry his junior year of high school, and has served in various leadership capacities since Fall 2011. He was ordained into the gospel ministry by The Lord’s Church of Kentwood, LA in February 2014.
Evan’s heart and passion is to see people pursue Christ as Lord and Savior on a day to day basis. He has a heart for families, young adults, youth, and children. Evan loves to read anything about revival, discipleship, leadership, and preaching. He also loves to go outside and play golf and disc golf from time to time as well.
