Dr. Jerry N. Watts, Senior Pastor

Bro. Jerry was born in the old Marion County Hospital as his mother and dad were born and raised in this county.  He graduated from Purvis High School, William Carey College (University), International Seminary, and Andersonville Baptist Seminary.  He has studied at Southeastern Baptist Seminary.

He has been in Church Ministry for over 45 years which includes a previous 8 month stay at New Hope in the mid-70's as the "Interim Music & Youth Director."  After 15 plus years in ministry, God did a work in Bro. Jerry's heart and life by saving him, thus giving a new perspective on life and ministry.  One year later, God extended the call to preach.  Today, his heart is to see people outside of Christ, come to know Christ personally, to follow in obedience of baptism, and then become a 'disciple' of Christ, following him in all life offers.

Believing God has called him to NHBC, Bro. Jerry is excited about what God will do through His family in the years ahead.

Mrs. Elizabeth Brumfield, Ministry Assistant

Elizabeth Ann Reid Brumfield, known to all as Beth, has been the pastor's secretary at New Hope since December, 1987. She handles correspondence, maintains the membership roll, prepares monthly financial reports and quarterly tax forms, answers the phone and does the other tasks that are required to keep New Hope's church office operating in a friendly and efficient manner. She worked as a day care director, bookkeeper, and as a primary teacher's classroom assistant before applying for her current position. Beth accepted Jesus as her Savior at age 9 and became a member of Magee's Creek Baptist Church in Walthall County. There seven years later she met future husband Duwane while attending the young people's Sunday School Class. After marriage, she joined churches in the cities of West Point, MS, Columbus, MS, Newton, MS, and Forrest City, AR as Duwane moved with his job. The family grew to include two sons, Jeff and Kenny, who were read Bible stories and brought to church from an early age. Beth and Duwane stood together and joined New Hope's fellowship by letter in 1985. Shortly thereafter Jeff, then Kenny, were baptized at New Hope. Both are married now and live nearby with daughters of their own who love "Granny Beth". Beth's life verse in John 3:16
